Kilmarnock Football Club was founded in 1869 and remains one of the oldest football clubs in the country.  Rugby Park the home of Kilmarnock Football club was rejuvenated in 1995 into a modern 18,128 all-seater stadium.  Kilmarnock FC plays in the Scottish Premier League against teams such as Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Dunfermline, Motherwell, Dundee United, Hibs, Livingstone, Aberdeen and Partick Thistle.  The average home attendance at Rugby Park during season 2001-2002 was around 7,924.

 Jim Jeffries is the current manager who won the Manager of the Month award in December 2002.

Further improvements and modernisations occurred on 2002 when a four star hotel - The Park Hotel was built within Rugby Park grounds.  The hotel is the first football and hotel complex in Scotland and includes a banqueting and conference centre and fifty en suite bedrooms. 

There is also a café bar which provides light meals and drinks as well as the Blues Restaurant for relaxed dinning and offers a wide choice of cuisine.

Fitness on line is a health and fitness suite attached to Rugby Park.  Residents of the hotel get free use of the facilities but it also caters for corporate of private membership.  The health suite boasts a well equipped modern gym and small café area for enjoying a coffee or juice and a well earned rest.
